Oh my goodness, guys. We cannot get enough of these games like Tomodachi Life. They are just so good. We had to tell you all about it.
There are lots of great games that are similar to Tomodachi Life. And we cannot stop playing them! There are games like Tomodachi Life for all systems (Wii, Wii U, iOS, Android, you name it). Let’s take a look at the best of them.

We love Tomodachi Life because it’s fun and whacky with great simulation mechanics. And there are lots of similar games.
Tomodachi Life is a fantastically bizarre game that falls somewhere between Animal Crossing and The Sims and incorporates otaku culture to create an unforgettably unique gaming experience.
That’s why when we created our list of games like Tomodachi Life (which we’ll get to in a sec) we incorporated lots of life-simulation games that offer unique experiences.
Tomodachi Life Ign Online
At times, Tomodachi Life is downright hilarious, and at other times it’s completely flabbergasting (editor: “flabbergasting”? Heh.). You’re in charge of looking after a bunch of Miis, who need food and water and also like certain niceties and luxuries. They also love playing in mini-games and letting you know what’s happening in their lives on their home island via a news desk.
Now obviously, there aren’t many games with precisely the same premise as Tomodachi Life. After all, Tomodachi Life is one of the most unique and bizarre games out there, right? But there are lots of similarly weird and wonderful titles.
We’ve put lots of alternative / unique themes in our list.
Animal Crossing, for instance, gives you control over the life of a character living in a cute Japanese style world.

Tomodachi Life Ign
Animal Crossing is a life-simulator that is a sort of precursor to Tomodachi Life. So Animal Crossing is definitely one game you will want to look at if you like Tomodachi Life.
Almost certainly the thing that’s interesting gamers most in Tomodachi is the novelty of it. It’t is wacky and wonderful, especially if your friends and family are included in your virtual island. You get to create your own caricatures with the Mii creation kit and you can customise voices too. You can also assign stats like energy and mood to your miis to create personalities.
Lots of games offer similar options. In the Harvest Moon games, for instance, you get to create your own avatar and dress them as you like. And then you go about completing different tasks that lead to you completing different missions. It’s a very similar experience to the one in Tomodachi Life, and I’m sure you will love it.
Harvest Moon is the best farm simulation game ever. And a cult classic too.
One of the disappointments of Tomodachi Life is that you can’t customise the island. It’s made automatically. In some other Tomodachi-like apps and games you actually get to create your own room or island as you want. In the classic The Sims series, for instance, there are lots of different options for customising your home. So if you feel like playing a game like Tomodachi Life but with more area-customisation, look into life-simulation games like The Sims.
We also love games that have more realistic simulation elements, like the Sim series.

Description: Harvest Moon has earned itself one heck of a cult following, largely thanks to the fact that it is a hugely original game, combining simulation gameplay with role playing, management and other areas of game design.
In Harvest Moon you will be completing different goals based around the theme of running a farm.
The gameplay has changed with each iteration of the series but the basics of Harvest Moon’s game design center around growing crops and managing a farm.
Animal Crossing

Description: A classic Japanese sandbox RPG game with life simulation elements. If you have never played Animal Crossing, you are missing out on a real treat. It is the essential Japanese sandbox RPG.

Rare’s 2006 Viva Pinata is a life simulation game with a twist. You tend to a garden that is overrun with weeds. Your mission is to breed different colour Pinatas in order to stop the weeds from spreading. Viva Pinata has beautiful, bright and colourful graphics and vibrant presentation, but it does suffer a bit of a hiccough in the form of a frequent autosave. Definitely not the number one life simulation game of all time, but worth a spot on this list mostly because it offers something different to the genre.

Re:Legend is a JRPG in which you get to go farming, fishing, and crafting, and you get to build a village. But…. it’s not out yet. Still we are excited about this one.

Tomodachi Life is a bizarre life simulation game that features Mii characters living life on a small island. As in The Sims, you don't directly control your characters, but you can influence them by making choices for them and by giving them food, clothing, and other items. Much of the interaction comes in the form of mini-games. You may be quizzed on your Miis' status, be asked to identify an item or islander by their shadow or pixelated version, play a card-matching game, or even play a screen-tapping version of sumo wrestling disguised as football. Your Miis live in an apartment building, and you can browse through their windows to sneak a peek into their lives. From there, you can choose to visit one of them to see what's going on.
Moving In
You can create Miis from scratch, make them from a photo, import them from the 3DS Mii Maker, or scan QR codes of Miis created by others. You are then asked to describe their personality by rating their expressiveness, attitude, and so on. The personality you give them will affect how they react to others. You can also customize a voice for each Mii. You'll want to fulfill your Miis' requests to increase their happiness meter. Each time a Mii levels up, you can give him or her a new gift or ability.Real Time
Just as in Animal Crossing, Tomodachi Life runs on a real-time clock. Some events and sales are only held at certain times of day. And even though stores are open at all hours, most of your Miis will be asleep when night comes. So when you play at night, there's not going to be much to do. You can look inside a sleeping Mii's dream, which can be entertaining at first, and you can draw on a sleeping Mii's face. But those options get old fairly quickly, and the nighttime options are slim pickings. As a night owl myself, I find it very disappointing to not be able to fully experience the game when playing at night.Family Life
Miis of the opposite gender may develop feelings for each other, and you'll be asked if they should pursue a relationship. If you say yes, the sweethearts may get married and move into their own house. The Miis will still retain their apartments however, and they can still be found there sometimes. Married couples may ask if they should have a baby. If you tell them to go for it, they don't waste any time! The baby will be there within a couple days. You'll be able to visit and babysit to play with the baby. They grow up quickly though; in under a week, the baby will be full-grown and ready to move out of the house. You can then allow the child to move into his/her own apartment, or you can send him or her off to travel the world via StreetPass.Concert Hall
There are a variety of activities and mini-games you can observe or participate in. You can watch the daily rap battle, attend a magic show, or play an old-school RPG mini-game called Tomodachi Quest. But the best activity of them all is performing at the concert hall. There are eight songs to learn, each from a different genre: Rock, rap, pop, metal, ballad, opera, techno, and musical. When your Mii goes to perform, he/she really sings it using the voice you chose for him or her. But the best part is that you can rewrite the lyrics to each song! Want to make your mother rap about killer bees? No problem! Want to make Shaq sing an opera song about beef stew? The possibilities are endless! Creative types will have a blast with this feature.Wacky Sense of Humor
Tomodachi Life is loaded with humorous touches. From the puns and wordplay to the ridiculous dreams and 'Mii News' stories, to the hilarious animations your Miis will perform when the game is saving, this game is going to make you laugh. At times it will feel like you're watching the game more than playing it, but it is thoroughly entertaining.Final Verdict
Tomodachi Life is best played in short bursts, mainly because there's not always a lot to do at any given moment--especially at night. But the more Miis you have (the maximum is 100), the less of a problem that will be. Most of the time, the game is quite enjoyable and funny. A lot of the fun comes from seeing the Miis of people you know (or celebrities) interacting in all sorts of ridiculous scenarios. And it's interesting to see which Miis become friends or sweethearts, and which Miis get into item-throwing fights with each other. While it eventually gets a bit repetitive, the game provides dozens of hours of fun before then. On a scale of one to ten, Tomodachi Life is a solid...Tomodachi Life Ign 2
