Tomodachi Life Hair Colors

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/ScrappyMechanic/TomodachiLife

Jun 02, 2014  Nintendo’s Tomodachi Life is sort of like Animal Crossing: New Leaf in the sense that you interact with a variety of characters and tend to their needs, except you create the island’s citizens. In addition to your personal Mii, you can put your loved ones and celebrities into the game in the hopes of creating the ultimate community of happy people. If you give your Mii a bath and they have a hairspray-induced hair color, the color vanishes and restores the Mii's natural hair color, forcing you to re-dye it afterwards. Thankfully, Miitomo and Miitopia addressed this issue by allowing Miis to pick abnormal hair colors as their natural hair color. Have a relationship that falling apart?

  • There is no feature to use the Control Pad and face buttons to navigate menus, aside from scrolling through apartments and shop listings. The only feature they have is skipping a Mii's speech.
  • If you accidentally select the wrong item in your inventory, there's no way to put it back when it appears in the Mii's apartment.
  • Miis leveling up after about a month or so of playing the game. They don't require much effort to increase in level, and it happens so often that it will grow to become Padding for many. There's no option to quickly skip giving them a gift if you can't decide on something, though you can always give them a very low amount of Pocket Money.
  • Advertisement:
  • Miis breaking into fights at random for seemingly no reason.note Calming them down with food is out of the question if they have a full stomach, and good luck trying to calm them down with clothes, since there's no way to know ahead of time if they will like a clothing item or hat enough to do so. And if you give them something that only generates a '[They] liked it' response (the most common of the three non-calming responses, the other two being the dislike responses), you still cause experience gain and have a chance of leveling them up, which despite how happy they seem during a level up, that won't calm them down either. They will also refuse to use most goods when they're angry with someone, with the only exceptions being the bath set, note music box, and swing.

  • If a couple ends up fighting and one of them doesn't accept the apology, instead of offering to apologize and return things to the way they were, or if their relationship status sticks below 'Getting along OK' for too long, they'll instead go 'Things aren't going so great with me and [Mii's name]...'note without any warning. From there you're presented with two options. 'Move on' or 'Work it out'. The former causes the two to break up or divorce, which will end their relationship and launch both of them into aHeroic BSoD. The latter option does the same, complete with both Miis in a dark room and a Scare Chord if they fail to get together. What makes this bad is that unlike with most other events/problems with a Mii, where there is an option to just leave the Mii be with whatever problems they have, you cannot Take a Third Option to try and make the Miis happier before they try to work things out. Like the above mentioned example, this can happen even if one of the two Miis' relationship level is at the highest level. As long as it says 'Getting along OK', 'Kinda getting along', or 'Not getting along' on one of the Miis' relationship status, they will ask for a breakup/divorce at every opportunity.
  • Advertisement:
  • Not being able to tell who a Mii wants to confess their feelings to until you tap on their thought bubble. Like the breakup/divorce requests, you cannot back out once this happens. What makes this bad is how Miis will frequently attempt to go after Miis that already have a partner in an effort to take the Mii for themself and break the heart of the other Mii also in a relationship with the targeted Mii. This will require players to take notes on who is currently Sweethearts with who, so attempts of Miis asking out already-paired Miis can be reduced. This was further escalated in Collection, where Miis will try to confess their love to married Miis, multiple times.
  • If a married Mii had an ex that they broke up with, the ex may go 'I can't stop thinking about how times used to be... I miss [name of their ex], I think we should get back together.' Even though the Mii they're trying to get back with already has a husband/wife, the ex will still try to get back together, even to the point of asking the player multiple times over the course of one save file.
  • Unlike apartments, you cannot move/reorder the houses in Mii Homes; especially since if you have a couple get divorced, it leaves a very awkward vacant spot in its place, which can feel like a Player Punch.
  • If you give your Mii a bath and they have a hairspray-induced hair color, the color vanishes and restores the Mii's natural hair color, forcing you to re-dye it afterwards. Thankfully, Miitomo and Miitopia addressed this issue by allowing Miis to pick abnormal hair colors as their natural hair color.
  • Have a relationship that falling apart? If you try to give a travel ticket to a Mii when their relationship with their partner is at 'Getting along OK' or lower, they'll bring one or two of their friends or relatives instead of their partner. Obviously, your chances are better if you give the travel ticket to the one with the higher relationship status, but if neither has a particularly good status, you're pretty much fighting a losing battle. What makes this worse is that travel tickets are one of the more uncommon gifts that you will receive, making them more difficult to grind up and save for emergency trips.
  • If a Mii is experiencing a Heroic BSoD, they will never bring anyone else along with them, traveling purely solo and not improving any relationships.note This is especially true if you by chance have a Mii who is under the weather thanks to a Rejected Apology and at the same time their relationship with their current partner is in the mid levels and you want to improve it. They won't give you a souvenir either.
  • Sometimes when you check on a couple and their baby, they'll be perfectly fine. But the instant you step out, the parents will call you with 'Excuse me...' and you'll be redirected to take care of their baby, who all of the sudden burst into tears the second you left.
  • The maximum length for a Catchphrase is 15 characters. This makes sense in the Japanese version, as it's easy to fit a sentence or even two in 15 characters in Japanese. In Western languages, however, you'll barely be able to fit a complete sentence in the same number of characters.
  • You can alter how a character's names are pronounced without changing the name itself, but you can't do the same with catchphrase or song lyrics. Does your song or catchphrase involve words that are pronounced incorrectly by the game's voice synthesizer? Too bad.
  • It is extremely likely that a Traveler Mii you send out will end up getting deleted due to being sent to the island of a player who deletes their game data while the Traveler is on it, or the Port overflowing with Miis (50 total), forcing any Mii sailing in on the Shopkeeper's boat to be erased from existence and not show up on the boat at all despite the onscreen text saying a Traveler was received.note
  • There is no option to bring a traveler back to the campground if there is little to no StreetPass activity. As a result, they will stand at the port indefinitely.
  • The fact that Miis of the same gender can't get into a relationship is this for many players.
  • The fact that cellphone calls from parents happen without warning, are not possible to ignore, and appear on the main hub, where the save button is. Just about to stop playing? Too bad, you have to sit through an interaction first.note It's also possible to acquire several phone calls in a row because you have several fully grown children that cannot be shipped off because your port is full.
  • Unlike with lovers, you have absolutely no control over best friends. Even if you tell a Mii that their best friend is not compatible with them when they tell you they aren't getting along, that does nothing except lower their relationship status a tier.note It also works in reverse; although it is rare, best friend Miis will randomly lose that status.
  • Once you've viewed a Mii's wedding with their sweetheart, you cannot see it again.
  • If you have several phone calls waiting to be received, there will be no problems to take care of, aside from fights and wanting to play a game.
  • Married Miis will never fight or divorce as long as a child is in their house, which makes them the only way to prevent divorces. Unfortunately, married Miis will think of having a baby at random, and once their child leaves, they're back on the fight/breakup radar with each other.

The Top Ten Things That Should Be Added to the Game Tomodachi Life

1More family options

A given as it could get annoying if you have you and your sister and you end up married. Unless you're cool with that in which case go for it. - MasterBeef

Yes! This would be so helpful. It would also be cool if you could keep the kids for longer, make specificity a mii as a child, and have twins or triplets. It would also be cool if all the family members could go in the house, or have multiple children in the same house.

I had Ron and Ginny Weasley from 'Harry Potter' (among other 'Harry Potter' characters- and characters from many other sources) on my island, but could not set their relationship to brother and sister. For nearly an entire YEAR they did not even acknowledge each other's existence, and when they did finally meet every time I played I had to hope and pray they did not divorce the spouses they'd already married and try to pursue each other romantically. I finally had to boot them and most of their HP 'co-stars' because it was becoming too much.

I have Reese and Cyrus, who are canonically married to each other, on my island. I should have been able to just set them as 'married' from the get-go rather than spend every game session hoping no one else took an interest in either of them or vice versa before they finally met each other, Reese asked Cyrus out, and Cyrus proposed.

2Gay couples

In the meantime, nothing's stopping anyone from passing off one half of a gay couple as the opposite gender thus the couple can still happen. Sure that means the game uses the wrong pronouns, a lesbian who actually does wear dresses or a gay guy who actually doesn't wear women's clothing end up in suits and dresses respectively during certain scenes, and the resulting couple can still have babies, but small price to pay.

I just make my Miis the opposite gender, but that causes problems. I'm tired of lesbians showing their (ehem) when in a towel. This would be perfect!

They didn't remove it, it was never added.

As a lesbian, it would be really useful!

3More than 100 apartmentsTomodachi Life Hair ColorsTomodachi life hair colors for black

Needed so bad. You want to do an island with only Harry Potter characters but you run out of room and have to throw away the characters you dislike. - MasterBeef

250 apartments per save file, and let's add the ability to have 3 save files. This should be a thing on Tomodachi Life on the Switch. - KalloFox34

4More outfits for miis

I'd also love more outfit customization, like choosing what pants, shoes, and shirt go together. and even though it is not on the list, I'd love more apartment customization and not just a set.

I want like other Nintendo costumes

More Nintendo themed outfits

5Odd hair colors that are permanent and get passed on to babies

The next Tomodachi Life, if they make one, will probably be on the Switch, and the Switch lets your miis have odd hair colors, so this will probably be in Tomodachi Life 2.

We all love the hair color spray for giving Marth his blue hair, Lum her green hair, or even using the orange and yellow shades to make redheads and blondes respectively more accurate than the Mii Maker allows. However, you always have to re-spray Marth or whoever's hair after baths, and babies get whatever a parent's 'natural' hair color was if one or both parents have dyed hair. That first one is very annoying in regular play, and that second one can only be dealt with if the child stays on as a resident.

I really wish they were permanent! It is really annoying how they aren't to common, so sometimes you have to wait to give a character you made the correct hair color. Also, it comes off if you give them a bath set, which is also annoying if someone with a hair color spray hair color wants a bath.

6More hair and face options when you create a mii

Definitely! and I would say new hair colors, so we don't have to use the hair color spray

I want all my girl miis to have long hair most of the hairs when you create a mii are shoulder length

7You get to choose their nationality

I'd love that! I made my british friend in my game, but the game will only let me have an american accent.

My miis are supposed to be American so I want them to be American, and you can choose American, Australian, English, Canadian, Asian, African, and Scandinavian

Kind of exists, the Mii Maker has skin colors. - KalloFox34

9Married couples can have more babies

More mii home activist like they have a poll and and a grill and the miis can host a party for the other married couples on the island and sweethearts to if there freinds with them kids will be in the pool and parents will be grilling or watching T.V. inside the house

That was already added but that can happen if the first child is grown up. The brothers and sisters won't live with each other

It could be the loud house

10You get to record your own voice for your miis

You would then have to say every thing your mii would regularly say like 'I want to take a picture' or I want to get to know (mii's name).'

You would have 2 options record your own voice, or just the main thing where you can change the pitch and all that other stuff.

The Contenders

11Turn off relationships and break-ups

If they won't let us set family relationships, this would be helpful in that one need never worry about, say, Bart and Lisa Simpson or Ron and Ginny Weasley becoming romantically involved.

As with babies, it wouldn't effect any break-ups that have already occurred and any relationships (including marriages) already present won't be terminated. Meanwhile, no need to worry about characters you don't want hooking up (or third parties trying to play matchmaker) or any couples you want to stay together (mainly real-life- say, you and your actual spouse/significant other- or canon in the source material couples- say, Cosmo and Wanda- that haven't actually broken up) splitting up.

God, break-ups can be annoying. Alternatively, you can choose a Mii's friends when you create one (so that it's like they already know each other) - KalloFox34

12Permanent pets

Not this rent a dog rent a cat nonsense currently in the game. Actually being able to give residents a dog or cat to keep, and one that you can interact with as well.

I don't even have the game but I am still wanting this stuff to happen - toptenforlife

My real-life cat had to be put down recently, and if I could add a cat that looks like him for my Mii to just keep as a pet rather than have random cats occasionally show up in my apartment, I totally would; I miss him so much.

Tomodachi Life Hair Colors For Women

I would love this! It would also be cool if they added some Nintendo characters (such as Pikachu or toad) that could be your Mii's pet.

We need more pets

13More than one save file

I'd love to see what it's like to start anew, but still have my old safe file.

I need this SO bad, sometimes having just one save file can get boring...

Good idea

14A royalty status for royal miis

I once made an island where all my miis were princesses, queens, and princes they should have an option if they are royal or not

15The possibility for other people besides rival love interests to potentially interrupt love confessions

Like a disapproving parent or a best friend who isn't on great terms with the would-be sweetheart.

16More minigames

How about Nintendo themed minigames

17Festivals and holidays

You know, like in Animal Crossing?

18Some acknowledgment of 'pregnancy'

Not necessarily a noticeable belly, but once you've answered a baby request in the affirmative at least the random comments from mother or father should include something along the lines of how they're looking forward to the blessed event. There have been times I'd told a couple they could have a baby then forgotten I'd done so between then and when they announced the birth.

yes

19More prize options when miis level up

Right now I'm thinking T.V. should be added

20Make miis die

Nah, kids wouldn't like that much. - KalloFox34

21Ability to turn off requests for new clothes/hats and new interiors

Even better, just take that out completely. Most of my Miis are of certain characters and I finally got them the outfits that most closely resemble what they actually wear, so of COURSE they keep telling me 'I'd like some new clothes'. Ugh!

Especially for Miis who already have one of the 'hairstyles' with a hat attached. Stop asking for a hat to wear over the one you've got and in fact even wear to bed and during baths!

Seriously, how many of those does a person even *need*? It's like they won't rest until you've given them every such item in the game, it's very, very annoying!

22Perform plays

In 'Suikoden III' once certain conditions were met you could actually have the characters perform either scenes from a public domain source (e.g. 'Romeo and Juliet', 'The Little Match Girl') or from the first two games (provided you were using a memory card that also contained save files of those first two games). I'd love to be able to do that with my island residents like I can have them do concerts. As with 'Suikoden', public domain plays and stories could be used as well as maybe a skit or more taken from other Nintendo games ('Mario, 'Zelda', 'Kid Icarus', 'Metroid', 'Fire Emblem', etc). Like the songs, these would be given as level-up rewards and anyone who had been given the script could be involved in that play.

23More fantasy

Miis can be fantasy characters like vampires, werewolves, fairies, superheros, mermaids, warriors, and monsters

It could be a legend Of Zelda cosplay

24Ability to see what Mii's are watching on TV/Tablet

That and maybe play the game consoles with them, like have the game consoles be another way to play Tomodachi Quest or something.

25Family photos with babies can also include siblings if there are any

Right now the only baby photo options are with the parents or the baby by itself. There was one couple whose daughter I'd kept and I wish I could have included her in the 'family pictures' I took when her brother was born.

And grandparents

26Being able to move the houses in the Mii Homes area

When a married couple gets divorced or you delete one or both of a married couple, their house disappears leaving an empty spot where it had been. Problem is, you can't rearrange any of the other houses so you'll have a very odd layout until another couple marries therefore taking that spot.

27Government

That would be interesting. - KalloFox34

Itwould be fun to have leaders of the island, elections, etc

29Being able to see them have sex

No! Not a good idea! Especially for the fact that the Tomodachi series is child-friendly! - Jasmine21064

It could ask you your age. If you were an adult it would be enabled - XxSEVEREDHUMANITYxX

Than the game will be rated T

Trust me, Nintendo will NEVER make an M rated game. - N64Dude

What about Bayonetta 2, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Devil's Third and Eternal Darkness (though admittedly Nintendo simply published them)? - KalloFox34

Hello, I am looking for a CERTAIN pervert.

30Birthday cake available when it's not your birthday

At least after your first in-game birthday party (literally the only place to get a birthday cake), it should become available at the food mart or morning market, or with the frying pan. I mean, I wouldn't mond only getting a birthday cake on my actual birthday, but for the fact that it can still be somebody's favorite or worst food.

The only way you can do this is if you change the year on your DS.

31Have Miis still be mad after they reject an apology after a fight
32Be able to choose a mii's class in tomodachi quest

You can-sort of. The class depends on their personality. But I suppose it wouldn't work if you wanted nurse Joy to have a specific personality thst isn't a healer.

I have a Mii that is supposed to be a brawler, but in Tomodachi Quest he is a swordfighter. Also, I have a Nurse Joy Mii that is a mage instead of a healer. I wish I could choose their classes!

34Related miis get to live in an apartment together

Like I said on #1 related miis like siblings can live together and they can move out if you don't like them living together.

35Have all outfits available to everyone in the portrait studio and concert hall

Yes, you can change a Mii's outfit just for a photo or song/stage performance, but only into outfits they already own themselves. And I'm not going to give someone, say, formal wear or something like the dinosaur suit I wouldn't want them wearing any other time just for a picture or performance.

It's called 'renting costumes'. Real-life theaters and photo studios let you dot that.

36Make Miis and Kid Miis go to school

I would certainly think it would be funny to see your least favorite miis to go to school. I have three miis that are my least favorite

That would be funny

38Have colored hair without hair dye

If the Nintendo Switch gets a Tomodachi LIfe game, this will probably happen, since the Switch adds new hair, eye, lipstick and glasses colors from all over the rainbow. - KalloFox34

39Add more technology

Tomodachi Life Hair Color Spray

Yes - Ikura

Miis should be able to use the computer/watch T.V. when you want them to. - KalloFox34

40Behavior based on personality

That would be fun. Maybe it could vary the greetings they give you when you enter their apartment. For instance, maybe more extroverted miis could seem happier to see you, while more quiet and introverted miis are a bit less cheery. I think it kinda sucks that the personalities are only for things like friendships, relationships, etc. The miis are completely blank slates, and besides them getting mad or sad, they're WAY too cheery. Give them ACTUAL personality!

Yes! there is somewhat, but not enough.

41More control over miis

Yes! I wish we had more control over who miis meet. I also don't like that they can buy there own outfits.

42Being able to get travelers back onto the island
43Ability to make your own songs

I mean, we can already alter the lyrics of the songs from Concert Hall, but what if we could create a song by scratch? Not just the lyrics but also the melody, beat, and (if the song will be played in a Concert Hall performance) how the performance will be, how it'll look like, etc. Also, we could have the songs be played in the Cafe or another store, so that'll be great for players who are tired of hearing the same few songs repeatedly.
This will bring up a lot of fun songs made by people, and seeing/hearing their fully original songs from this game would be great. - Jasmine21064

44The ability to prevent certain people from ever falling in love without making them related to you
45Ability to make anyone a traveler, not just raise babies to be travelers

If your island is full or almost full but you still want to add someone, having the option to have any current resident become a traveler is better than being forced to delete them.

46The ability to pick the dancers in songs

Sometimes a Mii sings a song, and then Miis that are supposed to be their enemies are dancing with them. Or my Mii sings a song, and then my least favorite Miis are dancing with my Mii!

47Make miis you hate go to school

That would be funny to see your least favorite miis go to school

48

Tomodachi Life Hair Colors For Black

A traits system

The personality quiz won't be totally removed, but you can choose which one you can use to determine a Mii's personality. - KalloFox34

50Being able to trade spotpass clothing online
